Write a useful name query

Enter the person's full name as they are likely to use it publicly. Keep middle names, initials, accents, or alternate spellings when they distinguish the person from common namesakes.

A city, employer, school, profession, or known handle can help you recognize the correct candidate even when it is not part of the name itself.

Review namesakes

The first result is not automatically the right person. Compare candidate photos, headlines, locations, organizations, and public handles. Open only the candidate that fits several details you already know.

If no candidate fits, go back and try a more complete spelling, a previous surname, a known username, or another exact identifier.

Expect variation

  • Public profiles may omit a surname, use a nickname, or show an old employer.
  • Transliterated names can appear in more than one Latin spelling.
  • A private or newly created account may leave very little public evidence.
  • Famous people and common names can produce many unrelated candidates.
