Compare the candidate card
Candidate cards are intentionally compact. Use the combination of name, real profile photo, headline, location, tags, public handle, and confidence ring to decide which person deserves a deeper search.
Photo
Useful when it comes from a grounded public profile, but never sufficient by itself.
Headline
Often combines current role, organization, or city from public evidence.
Tags
Summarize the strongest platforms or details found during discovery.
Confidence
Ranks how consistently the candidate fits the query; it is not an identity guarantee.
Use independent signals
Choose a candidate when several unrelated details align. A familiar photo plus the correct employer and a profile link from an official site is stronger than three accounts that merely share the same display name.
If a candidate has a clearly different full name, location, or professional history, treat that as a contradiction rather than explaining it away.
When none of the candidates fit
01
Change the query
Try a full legal name, nickname, maiden name, transliteration, or exact username.
02
Switch search type
A known handle or work email can be more distinctive than a common name.
03
Stop when evidence is thin
No trustworthy result is better than attaching the wrong public footprint to someone.
