Choose a useful image
Use the clearest original image you have. A well-lit photo with a visible subject and limited text, filters, or compression gives the search more visual information to work with.
Crop away large borders or unrelated people when the subject is small, but keep enough background context to help match the original scene.
Read the results
Results can include pages that use the same image, visually similar images, or public profiles with compatible visual evidence. Similarity does not establish that two people are the same person.
Open the source page, check when and where the image was published, and compare details that are independent of appearance, such as names, profile links, employers, or locations.
Upload privacy
Do not upload intimate, confidential, or unlawfully obtained images. Remove unnecessary metadata and crop sensitive background details before searching when they are not relevant.
